Ulee
Part 1
Gasping for breath…. A vampire…gasping for breath. That just goes to show how tired and beaten he was. But he wasn’t giving up. He had to find her….
“Hey Ulee…can’t find her yet? How pitiful.” Taunted a cruel hard voice. Ulee stopped. He froze and began to turn slowly around. This was the most dangerous vampire in Moonlit Valley. Funny how most places are now named valleys.
“Hello Morte,” murmered Ulee politely. “You have her don’t you? You have my heart.”
“Aw, that’s so lovely. But what makes you think that?”
“Maybe because you have her scent all over your lips” Ulees voice was now murderous.
“Don’t be mad Ulee. Feel proud. Your human mate fed a king. The king of Moonlit Valley. You know I’ve heard vampires can be tasty too.”
“Mmm?” asked Ulee in a polite voice again trying to control his rising anger. H e was well know in almost every Va;ey for his control…and power.
“I’ve heard about your cousins. She has a formidible power…and source. The Stone. Whoever kills her becomes it’s Guardian. And her brother…Jared. A talentless thing. But still…good blood”
“You touch her and I’ll rewind you so far back you won’t even exist. But that won’t be enough. You will die…” he whispered closing his eyes. Then they snapped open “FOR KILLING MY HEART!” he roared. He clenched his hands into fists and began to slow time. But now he didn’t want Morte to be able to see him coming. He wanted to insert fear in him. So he began to speed and slow trying to do it and the same time.
“Ulee…what are you doing?! If you kill me it won’t fix anything! I’ll still live on with my son!” he yelled now panicking. Ulee’s power was feared everywhere.
Ulee ignored him. He would kill the child then. Like father like son. Wait…. The air was shimmering too little. He was keeping in way too much power. When he released it…it would…. Suddenly a face appeared in his head. A Beautiful face with large hazel eyes surrounded by lush honey hair. Delicate lips forming a name. “Ulee…” Ulee grabbed his head beginning to build the power even more. His anger adding huge amounts of power to it as he whispered in an agonized voice “Kim…why couldn’t I protect you?!” Then he released the massive amount of power he had accumulated. He created a neutral space around him. From a bird eye view it would seem like a nuclear bomb had been dropped on the left side of the city. Ulee sunk to his knees after the explosions were over. He didn’t want to think any longer.
Aldama sat in her huge room coloring a book. She fell out of the chair and screamed when the floor began quaking. She staggered to the window and grasped the ledge for support. What she saw amazed her eyes. From an edge on the far edge of the city there was an explosion. It was growing and growing…comsuming the half of Moonlit Valley. Even after it was over Aldama sat there her mouth hanging wide open. She didn’t even notice when her bedroom door was thrown open.
“Mistress Aldama! Are you ok? Are you hurt?” asked her maid Rebecca anxiously. Aldama turned and put her hands crossed over her dress.
“Rebecca…please alert the driver that I would like to take a stroll around West Moonlit Valley,” said nine-year-old Aldama. Rebecca looked confused.
“The exploded half…?” she trailed off as Aldama began to get a murderous glint in her eye. Rebecca bowed once and said “right away Miss.” And scurried out of the room. Aldama turned to the window again “I will have that power,” she whispered.
Ulee was still on his knees. His head hanging and his thoughts sluggish. He heard light human footsteps coming towards him. But he didn’t care. He just didn’t….
“So you were the one that exploded half of Moonlit Valley huh?” asked a high voice. Ulee stood and raised his head to look down on the child. She was really pretty. Fair skin and hair, light brown intelligent eyes, and a delicate body structure. Ulee nodded wary of this child. There was a murderous edge to her.
“Yes, I am a vampire. My power got out of control. I was angered.” He said coldly. There was still some anger running through his long empty veins. The child’s eyes began to glow.
“Make me one too! Make me a vampire! Now!” she yelled clenching her tiny fists. Then she stamped her foot “I command you!” Ulee looked affronted and stepped forward his anger rising again.
“Look. You don’t know half of what being a vampire is. And you’re not becoming one. Not on a flimsy whim” he half-snarled half-growled. He whisked around and disappeared into the night. Aldama fumed. “no one tells me no.” she growled. “You’ll pay…you will” she swore and walked back into her limo.
Ulee walked into the large mansion. The mansion was luxerious all right, but empty. Everything was sparkling with clean but there were no maids, no butlers, and no servants. A man wearing a long red silk robe and holding a glass of red liquid walked down the stairs.
“Ulee! For a moment I thought you were caught in the explosion! What happened?!” asked the man loudly.
Ulee sighed and put his coat on the coat rack. “I made the explosion. The power…it got out of control. Morte…” he gasped and put his head in his hands “he…killed her…” he said beginning to sob.
“Oh Ulee! Not Kim! That stupid Morte! Calling himself King of Moonlit Valley” he spat. Ulee raised his head and glared at a wall imagining Morte in front of him.
“Ulee Ulee,” said the man shaking his head. “Maybe you should leave Moonlit Valley. Morte’s son will learn his father was killed soon enough and he’ll take over. Their family takes revenge very seriously” he said sadly. Ulee sighed and stood up nodding.
“You’re right…I have nothing left here anymore. Danny’s dead…so is Kim…and Rain and Jared live in Emerald Valley.” He became thoughtful, “If Rain would have her coven come here…I’m sure they could restore your family to power.” The man’s eyes bulged
“They’re that powerful?!” he asked incredulously.
“Yes” nodded. “Rain possesses The Stone and her powers alone are amazingly powerful. She controls the elements. Jared…his talent is the absorption and giving of energy. There are other members in her coven who are amazingly gifted. Makes Morte and his thugs look like a joke. But they have their own problem. Theres this girl Amber who wants control of their Valley. Well Rain’s defending it. Last time she wrote she said that a girl named Aza was causing more trouble than Amber.” He said. “Amber can summon Black Lightning. Aza has a cross made of Soul Material.”
During this entire conversation the man had been sipping his wine. At the last sentence he dropped it. Turned out to be blood actually and it began to stain the ground
“WHAT?” he yelled his face scared and wide with disbelief. “The last fragment of Soul Material was destroyed! By me! How…!?” he began to stutter.
“I don’t know either. But don’t worry about her. Seems like another girl has something similar to Soul Material. She can make a sword come from a tatoo in her arm. She a pure-blood” he finished. Once more the man looked amazed.
“She must be one of the last. Everyone’s created nowadays. No one’s born a vampire anymore” he said mopping his face with a silk kerchief. “My my…your cousin is…a powerful vampire…with a fearful coven” he laughed nervously. Ulee shook his head
“I have to leave…and there are only two choices. Sunlit Valley…stupid little perfect place…people singing everywhere…or Emerald Valley. I could help Rain there…start over. Say hi to my aunt and uncle. Yes…I think Emerald valley is the right choice. Will you come? Adam?” he asked the man.
Adam shook his head “I have to try to regain power here again. You go my friend. You need to start over. Maybe one day…you’ll be able to come back.” He smiled.
Ulee grinned back and nodded “I’ll leave at once. After I get my backpack.
A few hours later outside of the mansion stood Adam and Ulee shaking hands “Thanks for taking care of me and Danny…you know before he was ki-” began Ulee but Adam cut him off by raising his hand. “Don’t mention it. Your always welcome here.” He said warmly. Ulee nodded smiling. Happy knowing he knew someone he could rely on. Then he turned towards the rising sun and began to walk. To walk to his new life.
