Evie felt his grip loosen and she tugged out of his hand. She then started to run. For a human, she was fast, but to these men, she was probably as fast as a turtle. She knew running away wouldn't save her, but running gave the others time to think.

The man rolled to his feet, and darted after Evie. He would have caught her, had it not been for the interruption.
"Well well! Never thought I'd see the day when precious Rain and her hollow-headed males would need help!"
Ulee looked up, recognizing the seductive, smiling, slightly taunting voice. What he saw confirmed his analyzation. It was Aza.
She was standing over the limp body of the man who had held Evie. There was something beautifully white sticking out of his back, shaped roughly like a jagged spear. The thing moved in sanguine liquid movements, slithering around Aza's body, and then disappearing out of sight.
"Aw nuts" he muttered.

When Evie heard Aza's voice, she felt her body begin to shut down in fear. First she felt her knees give out, which caused her to fall. She turned and stared at her, her eyes as wide as dinner plates. This was the Aza that would be the cause for more deaths than Hitler and Stalin combined.

Aza turned to look at Evie, her golden eyes flashed as she smiled a wide feral smile. She didn't know who Evie was, and everyone hoped she wouldn't find out.
Turning her back on the girl, Aza pulled out her cross. Placing it in front of herself, 5 dagger sized shard of the soul material the cross was made of shot out, each piercing one of the men through the eyes, or chest.
"Done! Now, I'm sure if you didn't have your rulesyou wouldn't have put this ickle girl in any immediate danger now would you?" she asked in a reprimanding voice. Never taking her eyes off the direction of the other vampires, she took Evie's hand roughly, and shoved her towards them.
Rain's eyes darkened. This woman had nearly killed her brother. Not something she'd be likely to forget. "Hey Aza!" her voice was frightengly cheerful, yet her eyes retained that same dark glow, "Gosh, thanks so much for the help back there. Thought we might actually have to use our powers out here in the open, but, uh, you sure killing them was a good idea?"
Aza smiled back, equally cheerful. But, her smile was cold and her eyes daring Rain, "Why? Is there a problem?"
Shrugging, Rain prodded one of the bodies with the toe of her boot, "Not particularly. These are the governments men. Dead or not, it makes no difference to me."
"Ah Rain! If only you joined us!" said Aza in a dramatically woeful voice. She placed the back of her hand aginst her forehead in a theatrical move. She looked at Evie, studying her hair and eyes, "By the way, who's this child I saved?I'm pretty sure I haven't seen her before."

Evie hated the feeling of Aza's skin and shuddered at her touch. She landed in front of the others and managed to shakily pick herself up off the ground. Her first encounter with her entire reason for being here, and she was as scared as a child. Evie had to admit, though, seeing those men be killed as if they were bugs had really shaken her up. She could fight, but not that well.
Jules spoke up in response. "Her? She's just a new member. No one you would be interested in."

Fierce golden eyes probed every inch of Evelyn's face. "Funny. What you just said just interested me." Looking up at Ulee she laughed, "Well! I'll be going now. Pandy wanted something from the neighborhood. A quick snack, if you know what I mean." With a wink, she turned and disappeared in a flash of fierce bright light.
Ulee lowered the hand he had used to shield his eyes from the light. "Ugh, she's gotten better at using her Soul Material to get to places."
Seriousness was etched into Jared's face, "We got lucky. She probably won't think much of Evie, for now. But, she has to blend in as much as possible so that she can do what she came here to do."
Rain tugged at the rubber band that held her dark blue hair in place. Finally free, it fanned over her shoulders. Using one hand, she pulled her moist bangs from her face. "Yes. That, and no going to public places. The park's fine. But, city, school, and other people crowded places like that should be avoided.
Evie then caught Rain's eyes. The girl was still on the ground, and she looked absolutely terrified. Concern replaced every other emotion on the leader's features. Closing the space between herself and Evie, she kneeled down, pulling back that strange, beauitful hair from her face. "Evie, are you ok? Look at me."

The reason Evie hadn't gotten to her feet yet, was because she was crying. At the moment, she was grateful for her hair, until Rain lifted it from her face. Tears were running down her face, cleaning off the dirt as they fell. She looked up at her, startled. Evie then hung her head in shame. "I fear that I am going to fail you all." she whispered. "Aza... Seeing her do that..." her voice cracked as she shook her head. "She's too powerful."

With the heel of her palm, Rain cleared Evie's smooth cheeks of tear tracks.
"There now, you're not doing this by yourself, remember?" she told her, a smile on her lips. "We know the risk you're taking for us. Us right now and us in the future. We'll do everything in our power to help you. Come on, Jared will get jealous if he sees you've begun to cry faster than him," laughed the blue-haired vampire. Holding Evies hand, she tugged her to her feet

Evie let Rain held her up, but as soon as she was on her feet, she let go of her hand. "I can't let you do that for me." she insisted. "If I let anything change here, if I let any of you die or get injured... I just can't let that happen." Evie was determined now, done crying and feeling sorry for herself.

Ruffling the back of her hair, to let the breeze waft through it, Rain began to tie up her hair.
"Don't worry about us. COncentrate on your part, we'll do ours. i know they sent you alone, but I can't let you go against Aza alone."

Evie crossed her arms and and looked up at her. "My part is to protect you all." she said, her voice monotone. "I have special orders from the future Ulee. I cannot let any of you be hurt." It was like she was reciting something she had memorized.

"And they have orders from me," answered Rain firmly. "We protect any member of our Coven whos in danger. That's how it works. Now come on, I know a gret burger place." Not wanting to impose too much too soon, Rain didn't take Evie's hand again.
