"Again." Eiji's green eyes bore into mine. He had taken a staff from one of the trees in the orchards. God, it pissed me off how vast the difference in our powers was. "The only reason you've gotten by in your battles is because of your unusual powers." he said, spinning the staff expertly, "You know no technique. Enemies will come who will kill you in a heartbeat the way you are now."
"I know that!" I spat breathlessly. I ran the back of my hand across my mouth, wipining away the blood that had trickled down. Without waiting, Eiji lunged forward. I swung to one side, dodging his first attack and twisted, throwing a kick aimed towards his face. Moving the staff with unbeleivable speed, he blocked my kick. I gritted my teeth against the ringing pain that exploded in my lower leg.
"Your kicks have no strength." he observed lazily, swinging the staff towards my head. My strength was lagging, but I managed to duck. "Remember what I told you, draw strength from the Earth if you need to."
"Shut up!" He was really pissing me off, with that smug look of his. But, I knew he was right. I threw one foward kick, pushing him away from me. With a deft movement, I scooped up a handful of dirt. I could put my hands to the Earth and draw out eneergy, but Eiji had taught me that that sometimes takes too much time in battle. Raising the fistful of dirt to my mouth, I inserted it, and painfully swallowed the gritty dirt. The pain in my limbs lessened, the buzz of exhaustion faded from my head. God, I love the Earth.
"Good job. You're able to full accept Earth's gift. Y'know not many people are able to extract the energy-"
"-from the Earth yeah yeah, I know all of this already." Wiping specks of dirt from my mouth, I leaned back into my battle position. It all came almost as second nature now.
"Eiji, don't you think you're being too hard on the girl?" It was Kaede, the beautiful snow leopard was laying gracefull on a large round boulder. Her impossibly long tail flicked back and forth lazily.
"I've no time to be easy on her like my Teacher was." He raised his staff and pointed it towards me, "Now, again."
~
"Eiji's a monsteeerr!" I whined. Kaede and Yasao were rubbing salve onto the bruises and wounds on my body. Only because my hands were too beat up to hold anything more than a spoon.
"He just wants you to be prepared." said Yasou mildly working diligently with her soft paws.
"But, it's terrifying." I mumbled. I was laying belly down on a large rock table. Refusing to look at the two beautiful animals, I buried my head in my arms.
"Terrifying? Why? You know Eiji would never hurt you Rain." Keade's purr was soothing. But, I shot her a glare as she rubbed salve into a particularly nasty cut. "Well, he wouldn't hurt you critically."
"No. It's terrifying because... he's just so much stronger. He could kill me as if I were nothing." It honestly scared me, the difference in strength. Eiji was... on a whole 'nother level. "In battle, even if it's a mock one, he turns so much meaner." I huffed. A soft knock came at the door.
"May I come in?" It was Eiji's voice and he sounded rather apolagetic.
"No you may NOT!" I yelled at the door.
"But I brought chocolate!" He was pleading now.
"... Lemme get my robe on." Using Keade for supoort, I managed to slip into my beautiful black and blue robe. Right now, the veins that ran along the entire robe shone a dull pulsing blue. I was so weak right now, so the light reflected it. When Eiji came in, he wore his own robe. The white in the sky blue robe shone almost painfully. Ugh...
"I brought chocolate." he repeated, holding up a clay pot filled with lumps of the unmistakable delicious chocolate.
