Chapter One: Oh, good morning! Why the hell are your lips on mine?
Burning. I felt like my body was on fire. "I wonder why I'm in so much pain?" I thought.
Searing pain... So much, I felt a small cry escape from my lips. Mid-cry, someone else's lips pressed agains mine.
My eyes flew open, and I landed a punch to this figure's gut. He let out an oof as he fell backwards. "Oh, good morning, Juliette!" he greeted breathlessly.
I sat straight up. "Why the hell were your lips on mine?" I asked bluntly.
"You look so beautiful to-"
"WHY were you kissing me?" I snapped.
"Well, you were just so beautiful." he began. "So, when you were attacked, I stepped in and changed you into a vampire."
A vampire, huh? I thought. Well that sounded plausible. Pfft! Who was I kidding?
"So, say I believe you." I told him."You still didn't have any right to kiss me." I pointed out with a small smirk.
The boy sighed in frustration. "Well... I've been watching you, Juliette. I've wanted to ask you out for a while, but you always seemed so busy."
I snorted. "Yeah, busy trying to survive. Living on the streets isn't exactly a walk in the park." I snapped bitterly.
They boy's face fell. "So, you don't want me to stick around?" he asked, his voice faltering slightly.
I scoffed. "Hell no!" I shouted and got to my feet.
"But Juliette!" he exclaimed as I began to stomp away from him. "At least let me show you how to control yourself!" I stopped to consider his offer.
"That's a bit important, isn't it?' I stated with a giggle and turned back to face him. "Well, it is." I added. "And because we are going to be spending a bit of time together, could you at least tell me your name?"
The boy let himself smile, which made me turn a slight red. What is he smiling at? I wondered silently, tilting my head. "Sebastian." he introduced sweetly.
I finally managed to get a good look at him and I was breathless. When I had first woken up, the sunlight had been too bright and everything was hurting my now sensitive eyes. His skin was perfectly pale, and his black hair fell in his face, but it wasn't quite hiding his big, beautiful brown eyes. I saw his mouth move, but I just stared at him.
Sebastian waved his hand in front of my face, his face twitching into a bigger grin. "Whoa, Juliette! Your a lot spacier in person!" he teased.
My face formed into a scowl. "I was just letting all this settle in! Oh, and called me Jules, please! Juliette sounds very old school!"
Sebastian chuckled and then shrugged. "Whatever floats your boat, sweet cheeks." His voice was low and almost seductive. He leaned in closer, our nose practically touching.
Even as a vampire, I lost my breath. "Sebastian." Was all I was able to murmur at first. "I barely know you. I just met you when I woke up." I pointed out.
Sebastian smiled, caressing my cheek gently. "Take a risk. Your always so cautious." At that moment, he ceased talking. Our lips brushed up against each others, and with that little touch, I felt a burning passion radiating my body.
As soon as I felt him pull away, I whined a bit. He let out a deep rumbley laugh and put a finger between our lips. "First your too cautious and now your too eager." he mumbled, pushing a green strand of hair behind my ear.
I grinned stupidly. "Make up your mind." I teased softly, pulling away.
Sebastian chuckled and grabbed my hand softly. "Well, come on. Let's teach you how to be a big bad vampire!" he told me before pulling my along with him.
Chapter Two: The things I learned
Sebastian taught me many things over the course of time. Number one, vampires could feed on a human as long as they were careful not to release the venom or drink too much.
Number two, even as a vampire, my blood was unusually sweet. How we found that out, brings me to number three.
Number three, I didn't seem to gain the supernatural grace normal vampires go. In fact, I was quite clumsy, as always.
Number four, Sebastian loved me, and I was pretty sure I loved him back... Maybe. But when I finally told him my feelings for him, something erupted inside of me. Out of the mysterious markings on my shoulders emerged a huge, fiery, phoenix.
And this bird mauled Sebastian! I was absolutely horrified! When the bird finally faded back into my shoulders, I was sobbing and crying out apologies. But Sebastian wouldn't listen. He was too upset to realize that I didn't do that on purpose.
He told me no girl was worth being mauled by a fire-bird every time she got a little bit emotional. So, that was the end of Sebastian. I was then left alone.
Which brings me to number five, I was alone, on the streets, with a psychotic vampire hunter looking for me.
Oh, did I forget to mention that part?
Well, to make an extremely long story short, I fed off his entire family and apparently, when I do that, humans crave my touch, my gaze, my everything?
Cool, right? Not really... But this vampire hunter took my feeding off his family as an insult.
But I didn't know how long I'd be able to run from him. I managed to outrun him for 70 years. You'd think this guy would just give up, being old and all. But it turns out, this guy was a vampire too! A vampire hunting a vampire? How weird was that? But he caught up with me and he remembered exactly what I did.
I had just been feeding, making sure the human was comfortable leaning against a wall, and I was about to kiss his forehead when a strong force pushed me aside.
"I've finally caught you, scum!" he snarled, pinning me to the warm asphalt.
I landed with an off! and looked up into his black, soulless eyes. "Ow!" was my only response as he pushed me harder into the ground.
"Not even going to defend yourself? How pathetic!" he sneered. I growled and tried to push him away, but curse my lack of strength.
"I am not pathetic!" I replied passionately. Suddenly, I felt like something had broken into my mind, like there was an extra entity in there.
"There's some interesting things in here." spoke the boy almost at once. "Sebastian? Who might he be?" he asked with such arrogance.
"It's none of your business!" I snapped back coldly.
Then, an icy feeling filled my skull and I forgot what I had bee yelling at him for. What was none of his business? The man on top of me smirked. "How does it feel to forget your lover?" he tried to tease me. But... lover? I had been alone for as long as I could remember. Seeing I was having no reaction, he soon became bored. "But enough games," he added hastily. "I came here to even out our losses. My family ended up killing themselves, you know," he added. I began to struggle against him, but he managed to hold me dow.
He got out a gun and my wide, green eyes filled with tears. "Please, sir!" I begged pitifully. "I... I didn't know! I'm sorry!"
But his eyes weren't forgiving. He thingyed the gun and without thiking, I bit him hard, and his bitter blood seeped into my mouth.
"What are you doing?" He demanded, but I cut him off when I pressed myself into him, taking more of his blood.
Finally, I pulled away, licking my lips clean of his disgusting blood. "Sir? Are you alright?" I asked gently.
He smiled absently and pat my cheek. "Ray, call me Ray, my dear Juliette."
"Can I get up then, Ray?" I asked him politely, but I was still cautious. I didn't know how long this lust for me would last, and I didn't plan on sticking around to find out.
But Ray caressed my cheek. "But if I get up, I wouldn't be able to do this," he told me before kissing me as if we had dated for years. But we hadn't been dating at all! I attempted to squirm away, but his grip was strong. I would have to wait until he was satisfied before I could begin manipulating him.
"Ray, please," I begged softly, with an adorable grin. But it was all part of the plan. Act cute, innocent, whatever made the current attacker fall in love with me. But this act wasn't me at all. I didn't feel cute or innocent. I felt spunky and feisty, which was unattractive to a man in my days.
But whatever it took to make a clean getaway. Ray, feeling guilty for trapping me beneath his massive body, (I would deal with the bruises later, along with the cuts the previous guy managed to give me), he let me up. I stumbled to my feet and smiled sweetly at him. "Ray," I murmured quietly, his love-struck eyes glued to me and longing to get a closer look at mine.
I could feel his lust in the air, and he hung on my every word. "Turn around," I told him, circling my finger to finger to further indicated what I wanted him to do. And of course, Ray would did as I told him. Now my self defense lessons were about to be of use.
I kicked him in the head, knocking him out cold. Hopefully by the time he came to, the lust for me would be gone.
I walked away slowly, beginning to feel some guilt bubbling in the pit of my stomach. What if that blow to the head killed him? But I had to shake the thought clear from my mind. RIght now my biggest concern had to be getting out of town, perhaps out of the state, maybe with another vampire or two. How about 50? That's exactly what I got.
Chapter 3: Emerald Valley? I could get used to this.
Emerald Valley, Maine. The town that changed everything about me. I had wandered there after my adventures in New York. Emerald Valley was a cute, small town. There were few people there and it was surrounded by farm land. This was the perfect hideout.
I would just lie low, feed on the occasional human, and perhaps I would restart school. To celebrate my new found privacy, I decided to find a small, frightened girl to feed off of. Girl because I was in no mood to fight, and girls weren't affected by the lust. Luckily for me, I found the perfect damsel in distress.
"Jared!" I heard her shout. "You can't do that, especially at church!"
I turned to look at her and I saw a dainty, red-headed girl looking angry at a taller man, who I presumed to be Jared. I studied him for a moment and I saw his eyes. They were black ad I concluded that he was probably a vampire. Even after 90 years of being a blood sucking creature of the night, I couldn't get used to that startling color.
"But Baylee, honey... You were just so adorable! I couldn't resist!" Jared defended, trying to wrap her in a hug. "How can I resist you, Baylee, when you start to sing? Your face was just so serious and I couldn't help but kiss you!"
Baylee's face grew red ad she turned away. "But not at church!" she retorted. "I'm sure that's like, a sin or something!" Jared tried to apologize, but Baylee pulled away. "I don't want to talk right now!" she exclaimed and she dashed off into the forest, which was my cue. I laid myself strategically on the ground to seem like I had fallen. If my hunches were correct, she'd stop to help me and that's when I would attack.
"Are you okay?" I heard her ask me. I waited for the crunch of her feet to get closer before I lifted my head slightly.
"Help me." I croaked. As the girl, Baylee, rushed to reach me, a dark shape tackled me as I watched her with hungry eyes.
"Baylee!" I heard the thing holding me down shout, and I realized that the person holding me was Jared, the pest. "This isn't an innocent human," he continued. "She's a vampire!" he added, pressing my face into the dirt.
"And this vampire can't breath!" I managed to choke out.
Unfortunately, Jared didn't seem to care. "Baylee, you need to run, so she can't get to you!" WHen I heard Baylee's retreating footsteps, I growled in annoyance. So much for a celebratory lunch.
Jared finally let me go and I spout out a few mouthfuls of dirt. "You realize I'm supposed to kill you now, right?"
